New England's Creative Economy

Some great links from Jason Shupbach, Creative Economy Industry Director at the Massachusetts Department of Business Development

In particular, you should check out The Creative Economy: A New Definition [pdf download]
This report includes a definition of cultural enterprise and cultural worker categories from widely available U.S. federal data sources; protocol for measuring these categories; data on cultural enterprise employment in each state of New England and data and demographics on cultural workers in each state of New England.

There are a stack of useful links at the New England Foundation for the Arts.

Just in case you are not familiar with NEFA's on-going creative economy work in New England, check out culturecount.org - a rapidly growing database of businesses, nonprofits and individual contributors to the creative enconomy in New England. Be sure to preview the Impact Calculator, which is currently only availalble for MA data.
